Scrub A Dub Dub!
Hard, shiny faucets, steamy windows and beautiful marble curves. Yep that’s right, Bathstore’s new TV ad campaign is coming to Voice and Music courtesy of M&C Saatchi. Adam will be overseeing the project our end and is looking forward to it, “It’s really great to get the opportunity to do some more sound design based work and especially for something so high profile. Often we’re thought of as purely a voice recording studio but what more people are beginning to realise is that we’ve got a wealth of sound design talent here as well.”

Awards Galore

It’s that time of year again, and the Nominations for the RTS awards are in. Of course Roary the Racing Car is up for Best Children’s Programme and we would like to wish Chapman entertainment the best of luck, but that’s not all. Its funny to think that its been over a year since we recorded the voices for Peter Kay’s Animation All Stars but it has and now its up for two awards! The first is for Best Post Production (Craft) and we’d like to congratulate Hullabaloo. The second is Chapman again and its in the Best Production (craft) category. They are both so well deserved that if there is any justice in the world they are all certain to win!

An Insight Into The World Of Voice Overs

A couple of weeks ago Chris Ledgard and Sarah Langan popped in from BBC radio to sit in on a session for Roary The Racing Car, US versions. They were recording a show for Radio 4 about voice over artists, and as part of the broadcast they interviewed voice over artist Kerry Shale and producer Claire Pugh-Williams of Chapman Entertainment. If you want to have a listen to what they discussed please click on the link below, we feel it’s a pretty good insight into the world of VO and ADR.

Voice And Music Go Gold!
Under normal circumstances we pride ourselves on being discrete but some things are worth shouting about. So, with record sales at an all time low, you can imagine how thrilled we were when Emily from Chapman Entertainment dropped in and presented us with our very own Gold Disk for our part in Peter Kay’s Animated All Stars for BBC Children In Need. It was an amazing production for us to be so heavily involved in and with record sales to date standing at 415 000, and counting, there is always the possibility that it could go Platinum. Until then the Gold Disk has taken pride of place on the wall in our client reception.

Everything’s Rosie At Voice and Music

The first pictures from VGI’s new series Everything’s Rosie for BBC CBeebies have arrived at the Voice and Music and we’re happy to say they look stunning. Having completed the voice records here we were delighted to find that VGI have chosen us to do the sound design and final mixes for the upcoming series. Chris, our head engineer, has been in charge of the project for us and the job now falls to him to come up with the goods. To that end he’s been working closely with Foley artist Ruth Paveley to add extra layers of texture and complexity to the mixes.

“Its important to get things right when you’re doing something of this nature. The quality of the CGI on this is really good, so the sound has to be spot on. Libraries are all well and good, and they’re great for most things but with this we felt it was important to add that extra something you get from actually physically making the sounds. Its especially pertinent when you realise it has to go out in 5.1.”-Chris Morris, Senior Sound Engineer.
Everything’s Rosie promotes the idea of fun and fulfilment through friendship and celebrates discovery, curiosity and imagination.  At the heart of the series is Rosie - a positive thinking, enthusiastic and bright role model for preschoolers.  With the help of her lively and diverse group of friends, she finds surprising and refreshingly unpredictable solutions to everyday challenges.

Top Of The Pops!

On Sunday night we were all thrilled to hear that Peter Kay’s Animated All Stars had knocked The X Factor off the top of the UK singles’ chart and taken its rightful place at Number 1! This would have been enough of an achievement in itself, but that fact that 138 000 copies were sold, and that it was all in aid of BBC Children In Need makes this a truly memorable event. We are over the moon!
